There's a lot of information here. The parts that I get lost on are the "pull" and "gravity well" concepts. It's not clear why and how, so when I have to make similar choices myself, I won't really know what to do. It would be super helpful to have this great observational collection of concepts broken down a bit more so I can actually learn the process. The paths you show on the color wheel are not obvious to me which to use, when, and why. I have no doubt you are right, because your results are amazingly convincing. Thanks you for your excellent videos, Marco. I have watched many of them and enjoyed them all. Thought I would take a moment to give you feedback from a struggling student of yours.

Meh, I knew this already. Is obvious is you have a basic understanding of how light works. Pure white means 100% brightness, pure black is 0% brightness White is just the combination of red, green and blue light, we see as white or grey any color that's has equal amounts of each of the primary additive colors... So, naturally, the brightest a pure red, green or blue object can ever get is 33% or so, so 66% of grey values are gonna be brgither and emitting/reflecting more light. So, when you add saturation to a pale red hue grey, all you are doing is removing blue and green, you are removing value. This is like this because our eyes have red, green and blue cones. From those 3 colors you can make all other colors, and screens only have RGB pixels, they don't produce "true" yellow, "true" purple, etc. It's just a combination of red green and blue at different intensities

Gesture was also the thing that made things click for me. I was drawing since I could hold a pencil, but I would just copy drawings. When I took my first art class my senior year in highschool my teacher taught me about gesture drawing and I felt like I could finally draw people. I’m glad you mentioned this!

Really nice stuff. Learning anatomy and researching more on how the human looks may be a bit helpful in helping it not look like a play doh mock up done by a 2 year old - or learning how to draw, but even without those things this tutorial is really nice and to the point, and everyone can follow it if they truly tried.

Over 40 here and have always wanted to draw but do not have the talent for it. Finally decided I didn’t care I was going to do it because it makes me happy! I’m also happy to have found you for inspiration and love your style and the way you teach! Thank you!

I just thought about this but maybe certain colors are darker at their highest chroma because they are cooler (objects that emit them mostly do not produce natural light). But it doesn’t really help that colors of the same temperature also have different values though.
